    Question Model 1907 WEB Sling?

There is a sling for sale on ebay. Claimed to be a web version of the USGI Model 1907 leather sling:

M1 GARAND Model 1907 WEB RIFLE SLING

I've never seen one like it. Anyone have any info? I can envision this being tried for tropical use but.....

You could ask the vendor if there are any manufacturer markings on it. If it is genuine WW2 U.K. made I would expect it to have a manufacturer's mark of some kind on it which could in theory just be a dispersal code but more likely an abbreviated company name.

Sure that ebay sling been discussed on Milsurps before. I seem to recall that there were doubts about its authenticity. And a bit expensive. Caveat Emptor?

The sling in the auction and the sling on THE RIFLE SLING HOME PAGE are not one in the same. For one, the auction sling has only two hooks, while the TRSHP sling has three. Secondly, the webbing of the TRSHP sling is of a different kind of cotton webbing than the auction sling. The eyelets and keepers are also different in each sling. In my opinion, the auction sling is a modern-made fantasy item. In regards to the TRSHP sling, I think I read somewhere that it is in fact a Frenchicon sling, though for what I cannot remember.
