CEF marked leather scope can?

I obtained this leather carrying pouch with a CEF marking on top. Any ideas for what it was used? The seller thought it would be for a scope which based on the design I'd agree, but I've never seen one like this before.

Any suggestions for what this pouch was originally made?

I can't immediately tell how old this case is.
What does CEF mean? Is it military?
If Canadian Expeditionary Force (1914-1918), why does it bear St Edward's Crown (Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth) rather than the Tudor Crown (George V and George VI)?

I think you'll find the crowns are not quite representative of era. There are Edwards that look Tudor and other way round. Still, I'm not sure CEF stands for what you think.

I think that it's a commercial case and CEF are the initials of the owner. The crown is academic.

I'd agree with Peter. Also, whilst it may have had a 'kind' existence, I would query it's age too. Clearly not new but I wonder if a little more recent that a century old?

Using the size of the laptop bag in the background as a reference I wonder if it was a privately purchased (and crafted) map case?

Planned to do a size comparison to a No. 32 tin, but haven't had the time yet - sorry!

So I managed to find five minutes, picked a few British scopes and cases for size comparison and made those pictures.

It looks like it WOULD fit the Alexander Martin conversion of the P.14, also the PPCo scope. And it fits the scope of the George Gibbs Ross 1905 rifle - at least it fits in there and still has some place..
