G1 muzzle device

Hello , Is there anyone that could tell me about these two . One has AUF/AB with a small arrow each way and one has just an arrow.

The AUF/AB has 5 equal spaced slots and the arrow only has a wider bottom with 5 slots.
They both fit G1 barrel, the one seems it would possibly stop muzzle rise better.Attachment 72677[/ATTACH]

The wider slots is/are to prevent the blast from blasting off the bayonet grips if they are made of wood. Or alternatively, making the steel grips red hot while firing. Don't laugh. That's the reason the grips are steel and shaped to the angle of the flutes of the flash eliminator. At least that's the reason on the UK L1A1 and bayonet/grips. More to it than that of course. Nothing to do with acting as a muzzle depressor or muzzle brake

Kind of like the AR...and the idea of having the bayonet so far back on the muzzle. Otherwise the Bakelite handle would have been trashed originally.

First we need to recognize the German Heer had no intention of employing any type of G1 bayonet and the assessment of different slats on the removal flash hider pertaining to a bayonet is likely a moot point.

The twist on flash hider with the red markings was provided by FM the manufacturer of the G1. The top photo is likely of later German manufacture which simplified the vent cuts during machining (and reduce cost).
There was also another German manufactured flash hider with a simple spring lock to hold the device in place.
