I think you've missed the point Dave TS! Like Brit Plumber, I can't see an internal thread either and if that thinggy is held onto a barrel by a single bolt acting as a grub screw, albeit lock wired, then it is bad news for anyone downrange because that's JUST where that gadget is going to end up in pretty short order....................... Only my 2c's worth after having been on and seen plenty of barrel trials taking place in my short career!
But that aside, it LOOKS like a gadget that could be used in the film industry to emphasise the muzzle flash.

I would be guessing that there IS an internal thread.
My guess is some sort of aircraft .50 BMG barrel attachment. Just has more holes than I'm used to. But it may have been a light barrel version (supported by a perforated jacket) that hasn't wandered my way yet.
Also guessing that small screw is superfluous.

There IS an internal thread. Look closely. 1" must be for a 25mm, as 20mm comes out at 3/4" and 30mm comes out at 1 1/4 nearly. 25mm seems to be about right, but not much to spare. Could it be from a Bushmaster varient? Screws on, then lock screw and not much outside space to make the vents do their job of slight recoil reduction?? Peter? JMoore?

Funny you should mention that as I am currently looking for a 20mm muzzle break for a Vulcan barrel that we are in the process of going to make into a cannon. The outside dimension of the unthreaded barrel is 1.246
So if the original poster is interested in selling the behemoth above pm me.
