1917 trench knife

Hello the front cover of the summer GCA journal shows a WW11 marine sitting on stack of boxes shooting his M1. On his belt is a US 1917 trench knife. I was always told that these WW1 trench knives were not issued in WW11. So I was wondering if I was mistaken and a few of these 1917 trench knives were issued in WW11.

Indeed. Though not very versatile due to the blade shape, the M1917 trench knife saw more issue during the Second World War than during the Great War.

T thought the 1918 trench knife saw more service during WW11 the 1918 has brass knuckles and a knife blade the 1917 had a long triangular blade and a hand guard

Both the M1917 and the M1918 did.

I have two unissued M1917s that came out of a Virginia National Guard Armory in the late 1950s or early 1960s along with some other bits.
