"Pointer Staff" -- is this for real?

On EBAY (under Enfield sniper) there's a listing for a device that they call a "Pointer Staff".

They claim it was used by Britishicon sniper's to allow two individuals to see the same target at the same time. Ad says it's marked "CM828".

Was this really a piece of sniper kit or are they engaged in creative marketing?

No, it's a more general device used for pointing out some not-obvious feature.

A sniper and his spotter might not be located close enough to use such a gadget...
