A while ago I posed a question about why my 1921 Lithgow'07 bayonet was serialed to the 1921 Lithgow MKIII I have.
Looking for other information I found this snippet from the Lithgow Museum on "Markings".
"Up until the beginning World War II bayonets were often serial numbered to the rifle with the number stamped on the pommel."
Whether Enfield or any of the other makers of '07's did this I do not know but at least I now know why it bears the rifles serial No.Information
