    Cobbaton Combat Clear-out event 5/5/19

A few pictures from the event of the Land Rovers and Jeeps that happened to turn up at this year's event. The turret is an ornament in the museum grounds and I assume that it has a special "demolition" gun fitted. Perhaps someone can clarify exactly what it is, please?

I don't make a habit of photographing toilets but anyone who has visited this museum site will know that the concrete blockhouse/bunker looking building is, in-fact, the museum's toilets. Rather well done, I think.

Later edit: Correction to date of event.

Turret is a Petard fitted to WWII Churchill tanks for demolition, etc. Intended for demolishing bunkers D Day onwards. Engineer tank.

It's a Churchill AVRE turret, looks like it's been a range target from the damage to it. There was one of these on the hard target range at Robin's Lodge on the Thetford Battle Area in the 1980s, as well as a bunch of Ferrets and an SP gun on a Sherman chassis.

The best range period I shot on for hard targets was shortly after "The Wall" came down. We got some actual BMPs and BRDMs to shoot our main armaments at on Hohne Ranges in Germanyicon, courtesy of the recently disbanded Volksarmee.

Yes, the museum owns a number of former range targets which are now dotted around the museum site. Interestingly, they also own a Canadianicon Ram tank which they are restoring and I believe was also once a range target.
