Hello. While I've been away from collecting (and the forum(s)) for some time I have not been entirely idle. I was fortunate enough to pick up a ShtLE V two summers ago at an estate auction. (shamelessly gratuitous pics)

Very nice catch, nice rifle. Those always deserve a picture heavy posting...if you have time later?

Thanks, Jim. I believe the rifle to be correct. No piling swivel, but the bluing on that band screw is unmarred where the swivel would have ridden. I think the wood was lightly sanded a long time ago. '50's or '60's. The fellow was in his 90's when he passed away. Most everything in the collection predated the mid 70's. (I also picked up a pristine duffle-cut 1907-15 Berthier long rifle.) No import markings on the Mk.V. The butt was heavily sanded (and bantam) with a 1956 silver Washington quarter glued in the disc recess. I had a 1954 Enfield butt stock on the shelf with appropriate color and wear and that is what is currently on the rifle.

Nice, nice, nice...good catch. Last one I had a chance at was $800CDN back in about '76 and the bore was a sewer pipe. Outside wasn't great either. This one looks to have matching parts and pretty good overall finish.
