    SC Barrel Question

Was looking around on Gunbroker looking at 1903s and A3s. Spotted this auction for a DCM rifle. The Flaming Bomb on the barrel doesn't look right to me. Trying to learn and asking for comments.
    TIA

    Curly,

It looks fine to me, but I think the price is toooo high for what it is.

    My thoughts, DW

Flaming bomb looks right for a SC. Different flame design than the Rem.Its a 4.8 mi serial number which is near the end of production. It should have the late large loop trigger guard, but has a early small loop.Remington bolt, cocking piece, bolt shroud.May be a Rem stock, cant tell for sure. The lower band spring cut out that the spring fits in should be round at the top. This one may be square like a Remington. To me a standard post war rebuild with papers.700 bucks?

Remington bolt, and it is parkerized, too. A post-war rebuild and a little overpriced. Pass on this one.

I concur with Don W and the others. That flaming bomb style is correct for a Smith-Corona barrel.

The rifle has been arsenal-overhauled, refinished, and re-assembled from mixed parts. The rifle is a bit overpriced.

    Hope this helps.
