"USGI" barrel will not hand screw into new Fulton Receiver. looks like repark, no marks on threads, and no obvious crush.
Should I force, gentlly, in my Garand / M1A
vice?
Don't know where to send it. (SC - Mid Atlantic)
Thank you, John

If the barrel is Govt and the receiver is a new Fulton, then I would suspect the receiver. Send it back. Just before you do, have another guy try it. Sometimes it's magic. Don't force it, you can't return what's damaged.

I've heard of Fulton receivers having this problem. I believe it was the first run of their latest batch since Armscorp went under and stopped supplying them with receivers. Send it back.

Just lap the barrel to the receiver with 600 to 800 grit water soluble compound. Most of the Fulton receivers I've used have this characteristic.

You are not talking about a barrel that stops before 7 o'clock are you? How far off of O 7 o'clock can you be that you can still just crank the wrench down to pull it into 6 o'clock?

I think he is talking about not being able to even start the barrel on the receiver, as in, the threads are too thick for the barrel threads. I know I at least saw one person have that problem.
Good to see you here jywolfe.
Guys, he's a good M14
gunsmith if anyone wants to know.

Send the receiver back to F.A. Clint will tke care of you. Better yet send your barrel along and have Clint install it for you.
