So if you were there my question is why would I get service grade SA's from CMPicon some with nice original cartouched stocks(service grade condition) and some with new CMP birch? what would the reason be? 1. they were ruined? 2. they had nice original WWII stocks? 3. There were some sent from Greece without stocks at all? 4. Anyone elses guess goes here.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. As far as the SG Specials are concerned, we were told many of them were returned with no wood at all. As far as regular SGs' go, my guess is the wood was really bad, or missing as well. But that guess doesn't quite make sense to me. There has to be something else going on, and I have no idea what. I know they're still busy sorting rifles they have in crates. Good questions.

Thanks Charlie. When I received some SGs with new stocks I began to fill in spec instructions for USGI wood only and that took care of the problem. I would rather have a stock with history and all the scratches and dings(though SGs are still nice just not perfect) than a brand new stock. But the two rifles in the pics are still very nice.
