Unusual leather scope case I am trying to identify

I have attached a picture of on unusual leather case that I think might be for some kind of scope, but could be wrong. There are no markings of any kind on it. This case is very similar in appearence and size to the ones used for the no 32 scope only it's oval in shape. Can anyone out there in forumland identify this item for me?? thanks for looking.

From a quick look I'd say it may be a case for a Scout Regiment Telescope.

What are the case dimensions?
Any lining material, etc.

I am pretty sure it's not a scout regiment telescope case, but on the other hand have never seen one. The reason I say this is because the case is "oval" in shape, not round like the scout regiment telescope cases I have seen in pictures. the diamensions are slightly less than 13 inches long with lid closed and 3 1/4 inch wide by 2 1/2 inch deep. The stitching is very well done and has leather very carefully stitched over the two buckles. I was told by a Canadian Army fellow that it might be a bore sight case for a tank? Let me know what you think.

Here's my sct case to at least compare what it's the photo. I'm away from it for awhile so can't take any more photos or measurements.

It's definately not like any Sct Reg scope case that I've ever seen and I've seen a few. If it was a flattened Sct Reg Scope case, it'd have torn the stitching from the base and cap

My case sure looks like a scout regiment case after seeing yours, if nothing else it looks like my case was at least made by the same manufacturer? Even if I could identify the country It orginated from. This case has no markings at all on it.

The Scout Regiment Telescope out of the 1971 L42A1 Enfield Sniper Rifle in the MKL is marked ...

Ah - the pics made it look round...

The style of sewing & the leather covered buckles, plus the overall feel makes me say its British...

I'll have to check my notes against the dimensions you added - but it may be a Pattern '18 scope case
