Why not convert a centerfire bolthead? Bore one out and then press or thread a sleeve into the center that contains the offset captive firing pin. Haven't tired it, as there hasn't been a need, but it SEEMS straightforward enough. (I have done worse, but not to a milsurp rifle.)

You might need to anneal the bolt head first before you bore it. THere's no need to harden afterwards, they're pretty tough. My pal did one for his shot out No4. Ruined a couple but eventually got it perfect. He made the CHS very tight and just adjusted the bolt face rearwards to get it perfect on the go/no-go gauge. Go for it............

Given my (lack of ) skills, I will track down a rf bolt head I think. I could at least look at it and decide if I could copy it if nothing else !

You could always try useing a fellow member in that area to purchase and send it on to you. I did'nt say that though.

Wait for one to come up on ebay and have it sent through ... Seems that plenty of people do it.

I've seen them removed from ebay in Australia

They sell like hot cakes on US ebay though I haven't seen any 22 RF bolt heads on there at all, just the regular ones. Failing that, where there is a will there is a way.

Still require an import permit. I have had bolt heads, mags seized and receivers let through by Customs.

no consistency, I have seen proof of many bolt heads coming via the mail.

Another thought is that if you have to do permits then may as well get a complete rifle and put the 22 bolt head on it. Part it out or replace the bolt head when it gets here
