'06 1905
I picked up a clean M1905 bayonet a few years ago for $50. It is marked SA on one side and dated 1906 on the reverse. It has the flaming bomb mark also. It is not a bright blade so it has been reparkerized. My question is this... I was under the impression that the first bayonets of this model were not serial numbered. Mine has a serial number. Was this added when it was refurbished or did bayonets from this time have a serial number. Sorry I don't have pictures. I can take some later if they are needed. Thank you.

This is an original 1905 dated 1906, and has a five digit serial number applied at the time of manufacture.

Thank you
Thanks very much. I wasn't sure. I wish mine was still in it's original configuration, but it is not. It's still a part of history and for the price, I didn't think I could beat it.
