I've had and used them myself. The only drawback is when the little tab breaks off the end and they don't want to retain ten rounds. The bottom one goes stray...

Am I correct that the rivets I see in your mags are meant to limit each mag's capacity to comply with your country's laws? If that's so, are simple rivets enough to be in compliance?
I ask this because I routinely remove rivets when needed, using just a drill and a few seconds work - so it looks like each mag could be brought back to full capacity with a moment's work...

You are correct, that is the purpose of the rivet, and is probably the most common form of altering a magazine to make it legally compliant in Canada
. Also acceptable is the use of epoxy, as well as "pinching" the magazine body, or through the use of "tall" followers etc.
In basic form a semi-auto centerfire rifle must be limited to 5 rounds, while a manually operated rifle is unlimited capacity. Handguns are limited to 10 rounds regardless of rim or centerfire. There are exemptions like Luger snail drums, and M1
Garands but that is the gist of it.
Removing items such as pins is prohibited under law, with severe consequences, however disassembly for cleaning or repair has never really been addressed legally. Venturing any further along this discussion will likely have the thread locked, but the above should satisfy your curiosity.

I did notice those little tabs, and figured that brass will work harden and break away eventually. Shame it isn't a little piece of spring steel like the Warsaw pact stuff is clipped up with. I am sure the original design never had anyone dreaming that stripper clips would be reused beyond their one use service life. I will see how many it takes to snap them off I suppose.

I typically get about 3 uses out of mine, depending on how good the brass is. I've never seen refills for sale, probably because the complete things are so cheap. Too bad, as they are handy, great for storage, and work very well. I also like how these have the spoon built in unlike US style 5.56 ckips.

You can re-use them indefinitely if you carefully pinch together the bottom ends of the rails slightly. I've found this little bit of pinch is usually enough to hold that last round from falling out of the clip when the tab has been broken off. I use a needle nose pliers and pinch just a bit at a time, then try it with a round to see if it holds, and adjust more, or less from there. When you have it right, the round will just slightly snap past the end of the clip, and then move freely up towards the top of the clip.

I did that too, was just reticent to mention it. I didn't think anyone else would have done it too...

or give the end a light tap with a nylon hammer and they tighten right up for several uses. Also I refill them from the spoon end.

Very few guys I know use the stripper clips. Recreational use or range use seems more trouble then they are worth. We did have bandolers with them in VN.

Main reason why I have them is because magazines are uncommon up here and very expensive when you do find them, and with regulations being what they are, 5 rounds goes quickly. This way a little less time is spent fumbling with reloading single rounds and they are easier to manipulate with gloves on during my typical -30*F winter shooting days. If had access to 15 or 30 round magazines for the little money you guys can I would just have more magazines. As it stands, the 3 magazines above have the same capacity as one unaltered 15 rounder.
I think my last magazine purchase was $40 each by the time it was taxed and shipped.
