I have been reading the PH posts with interest. Can anyone give me any details on an M82 serial number R-31350? I would like to get some provenance on this example if there is any out there. Regards Steve

Gil,
I have read this thread with a good deal of interest. I appreciate your sharing the data on the M85 serial numbers. I am wondering if you have the same access to other models as well. If so Would you have any of the data on an M84 (serial number 01916J)? Also is there a significance to the letter at the end of the serial number?

Steve1152,
I can't find any record of your specific rifle from the records left. But it sits in the middle of the Canadian
order so it must have been one of the original batch I believe from the records. R-31342+ was on the list with others close to it so one has can with some good guess work assume they are some of the missing C3A1 order papers missing from these files!!
MichealDoran,
Your M84 rifle 01916J was manufactured on the 15th June 1989 along with five either side of it.
No scope fitted. It shot a 22.2mm group at 100 yards with 10 rounds. Looks like it went to ITHACER GUNS USA
whereever they are. They took several of that batch made.
Thats all I have I'm afraid.
The letters at the end were merely a guide on production models they meant nothing.

Hi Gill,
I used the Parker Hale M82 Sniping rifle in the Austalian Army, from Memory the serial # was 10955 (could have had a S in front of the #)
Cheers

Recongazza,
Sadly nothing recorded under either an S or R prefix in the M82/1200TX records.

Gill,
Thank you for the information on my M84. Funny it was shipped to the USA
. I purchased it from Mayfair Shooting Centre in the UK
and repatriated it to the USA again.
Someone also asked earlier about an M85 (serial 00345F). They were considering purchasing it. I now own this rifle as well. The original buyer shown on your records was a bit vague and perhaps a name at the ship to location. For your records, the initial customer (according to Bill Smallwood) was the ITDU (Infantry Trails & Deployment Unit.
Thank you for both your help and all the effort you put in maintaining this data.
