M2 carbine serial number and date of manufacture

I have a Plainfield M2 Carbine serial # 1908A. Is there a resource that can determine the manufacture date? The Plainfield machine Co. site does not show this serial# config.

They aren't exactly a certainty because they didn't keep very good records. Just make 'em and sell 'em...

You might write Jim Mock and ask him. While he likely may not be able to provide you the date you seek, I am sure he would appreciate a correction to the above, taken from his website.

Do you mean me? The OP wasn't satisfied with his website, so there you are. It isn't very definitive though. I wouldn't worry about it though, if I were you.

I believe he was referring to the op's serial number having a suffix "A" beyond s/n 1500.
