Entirely possible this WRA was hand-carried to SA by an officer. The work done as a kindness to same officer and out the door it went. The world was different in 1956 and if a senior officer asked as a favor, it would have been granted. Agreed, never say never.

still voting it as team built rifle sold thru CMP & some1 noticed the NM parts
& labeled it as such, without the original papers from the USAF, USMC, USNor Army ordering it to be built or better yet original paperwork from Springfield Arm., I ain't gonna believe it.
We have an original Type II NM, and until we got our letter from Marla, confirming it as a true US M1
NM, we assumed that it was a team built rifle too.
You will come to understand that these new taxes are beneficial(Hooting, tongue firmly in cheek). In a museum in Coffeeville Kanas, there was a S&W mod 3 pistol, that was attributed to a famous outlaw's use in the bank robbery there, Jim Supica, pointed out that the pistol in question wasn't built until many years AFTER the famous bank robbery/raid, the museum finally removed the placard attributing it as such.
