Dear All,
Last year I received a No 32 Mk 1 Telescope from a complete stranger while visiting the range with my Lee Enfield No 4 Mk 1. He recognised the rifle and said I have to visit him at his house. I drove through and he showed me the telescope. I told him that this telescope was fitted on the Lee Enfield and he then gave it to me - no strings attached. This happens only once in a life time!!
And so started my project of fitting the scope to the rifle. It took just under 1 year to get all the necessary parts; pads and cheek rest from AAS Sniper in France, front and rear pad screws, cheek rest screws and swivel from Brian Dick
(great service!) and sling (Erma Werke) from Classic Arms here in South Africa. A local gunsmith, Vincent Ritchie, fitted the scope following the instructions as per Peter Laidler
's book. He has done one such fitting before, but that was years ago.
I have fired the rifle after the scope had been fitted and I am amazed at the accuracy and grouping. One thing though, where can a purchase, at a reasonable price, the tool (original or replica) to zero the rifle - it will make life so much easier?
Here is the final product.
