Attachment 28173soooo.
i purchaced a 1917 Drill rifle , barrel is a JA, that was plugged at both ends.
not welded to the action.
many times iv read,. since my barrel isnt torch cut through the chamber, if i drive the plug out can i chamber and fire a 30-06??
the answer is.......................
NO....
heres what i learned this morning, i cut the muzzle , behind the blug at that end, recrowned it.
then held the barrel in my black smiths vise and drove out the plug...not easy by the way.
cleaned up nicely.. 30-06 dropped in nice...too nice.
so i looked with a light,,they counter bored the chamber so that the plug would fit snug..
so....
hears what i plan on doing with the barrel.
i ream it to .300 mag, and save it for a sporterized 17 with a nice original barrel, and chamber it to .300 mag...
then install the military barrel on a nice 17...Information
