I am pretty sure that the 1.25 objective refers to the objective lens. The scope pictured has an 1.25 objective lens best I can measure. The sunshade is about 1.5 inches OD. I don't think the sunshade is were Unertl made their measurement. You will note in the chart above, the 1.25 12X scopes had an objective cell of 1 and five-eighths inches. I assume that is where the adjusting serrations are, which is bigger in OD than the sunshade and about 1 and five eighths inches.

I looked at a bunch of pictures on the net and all the period pictures I can find show a scope that looks identical to mine. Of course I do not have a side by side comparison but having posted this scope many times on at least 3 different rifles, nobody ever questioned its correctness. I have handled several other originals and they look like this scope, at least as best as I can recall.
