An original April 1944 Springfield M1 Rifle

Sometime in early 1993, I received a call from a friend in northern Wisconsin to inquire if I was interested in a inexpensive M1icon rifle. He was a antique firearms collector and not interested in modern weapons, but he was looking at some guns at a veterans estate sale and found this M1, condition was not that nice and nobody was interested, I told him to buy it for me. When I received this rifle, I found that it was a complete early 1944 rifle that
had never been rebuilt nor had parts changed-out. The bore was bright but the TE was 4.0. this rifle was well used but still shot a nice target.
