An original April 1944 Springfield M1 Rifle

Hey Chris, That's the strangest looking carbine I have ever seen. But she is pretty.

I really like the Garand, but this my only WW2 original.

Newscotlander< nice photos of your rifle. A few comments: Your lock bar on the rear sight is the third type not the second type (look at my photo and you will see the round bevel at each end on the type 2). This serial number range could use either type 2 or type 3 lock bar. Also the gas cylinder lock screw could be either the single slot or the poppet valve in this serial range too.

I'm not sure whether Scott Duff actually saw this rifle and filled out the data sheet, or someone else sent the information to him. The rear sight type and gas cylinder lock screw are incorrect in his books.
