Gents, I recently bought a very nice condition 1943 W^D Britishicon Jerry can made by BMB from a village brocante.

It appears to have been painted at some point with gloss green paint. I was wondering what colour (if any) would have been used in period. It is generally rust free with the exception of some surface rust inside the top of the can. I assume it's had regular use.
