    Remington Model 1903A3 Observations, Q & A

A member started a thread with an inquiry about a Remington 1903A3 and it just so happens that I had won that auction. I posted on that thread but rather than hijack the thread I thought I'd start my own.

    Auction:WWII 1943 Remington model 03-A3 30/06 bolt rifle : Bolt Action Rifles at GunBroker.com
    Other thread: https://www.milsurps.com/showthread.php?t=58781

    Some pictures I took:

When this listing appeared I had bid on it, can't remember the starting price but it was low considering what these rifles usually list and sell for. I was eventually outbid and when the bid was at $605.00 I bid $610.00. Not being overly schooled on these 03s and A3s I more or less believed the listing. For the price I do not feel taken or that I paid too much, being a shooter more than a collector this A3 is just fine.

    Some observation:
A really clean 2 groove bore 6-43 barrel, stock seems correct, and refinished...
    Unmarked barrel bands...
Bolt blued and packetized "R" marked...

As of today: 3821618 1942 receiver
    Upon disassembly:
Stock appears to be an 03 stock as the cut for the rear sight base is there. Are 03 & A3 stocks the same?
Barrel & receiver different color barrel seems original with some minor pits that show with oil...
"R" marked A3 trigger guard & magazine spring. Follower unmarked.
    As posted wrong butt swivel...

This Remington may not be official correct but overall looks like it will be a nice shooter. I actually was looking for a Smith Corona but now I have this one.
