    My 1891 Mauser (first post)

I am kinda proud of my Argentine1891. It was a parking lot meet up purchase found on a local classifieds web site. The wood was really dirty when I bought it, and none of the figuring was visible. first thing I did was detail strip it and start cleaning the wood. My stock cleaning technique employs acetone and 0000 steel wool if they are really dirty. I know the acetone sounds harsh, but does no harm when used with 0000 wool and follow it up with tung oil. I have since put a scout style scope on it which I can take off and replace with the original sight any time. I am an avid bullet caster, and this rifle does real well with my home cast bullets. I wish I had saved some targets, but sub 2" groups are easy with this set up. Probably my favorite rifle. There is a special feeling I get when shooting this 1892 made rifle well. Here are some pictures:

My buddy Butchy likes guns and will stay right with me while shooting as long as I pet him regularly.

I have added a correct short hand guard and the scout scope. I need to distress the repro sling. Just doesn't look right. What do you think?
