1891 Argentine Mauser
I need the two "added" stock rings for an 1891 Argentine
Engineers carbine. Anybody know where I might find these?

Are these parts pretty much non existant?

Are you refering to the additional furniture for the bayonet that was cobbled on later?

Treeman, I have an Engineer's carbine, and my view of the market is that you should try something simple instead, like searching for hen's teeth.
As we have no pics, please forgive the following, maybe impertinent question. Is it really the engineer's model, and not the calvary model? Please post pics.
I suspect that if ever such rings were floating around, they have long been used for "retrofitting" cavalry models as engineers.
You need good engineering skills or a very patient friend with a milling machine. And an original to copy from.

I have one of the engineers carbine and bayonet. It sure seems that some one made things complicated when they adapted the carbines to take a bayonet.
The short bayonet makes a handy letter opener.

Pardon this slight diversion, but was the Engineer's carbine made that way from the factory, or was it a conversion of the cavalry carbine? (That was my assumption.) BTW, wouldn't a "Calvary model" be a pilum or gladius?

According to Ball, the Engineer's carbine was a conversion of the Calvalry model. The sling bar unde the wrist was removed, the hole plugged/covered by a plate, and the extra bands fitted. Lower band with sling swivel. Sling bar refitted on left side of butt towards rear, for shoulder carrying. And it would be extraordinarily difficult to tell if that was done in a factory or arsenal over a century ago, or last week by an enterprising "recycler".
I got my "Baby Mauser!" (yes, getting cutesy again - but it really is the shortest Mauser to come out of the factory, as opposed to cut-downs) as a wallhanger, because it just could not shoot straight. I fixed that. A year later a specialist dealer said he could get ten times the price I paid. That is why I reckon any odd bands have long since been used for mixmaster/upgrade actions.

Expensive, but unavoidable. Treeman, you were lucky!
