I have finally acquired all of the pieces to this restoration, including a mk1 rear sight with cut down battle sight, so no original condition mk1 sights were sacrificed!

Before I continue I would like to extend my sincerest and biggest thank you to Bob for his generous donations to this build, without him it would have either sat dormant for far too long or ended up with reproduction parts in an effort to cut costs which would just be wrong for what this old warhorse deserves.

Recap and parts sources.

1943 BSA no.4 mk1 T barreled action found in a heap for $20. Already having a mk1 scope and bracket, a restoration was underway.

To make a long story short, all wood and action parts were from sources through Canadiangunnutz.com

Original Pads and stock metal were generously donated by Bob.



The original pad screw stems are still in the action and removing them is the first step.




After drilling a pilot hole I was able to tap in an allen bit, then heat the screw and remove 2 of the stems, middle front and rear rear.



I ran into issues getting the pilot hole straight in the other stems as they were already punched off center when I received it.

Not wanting to rush things and potentially ruin the threads, I stopped at 2.
