This rifle is one of the scarce SSA Co. rifles (standard small arms) built from 1915 to 1918. The story of this unusual builder of parts and rifles is set out on page 172 of "The Lee Enfield" the final edition by Ian Skennerton. This example shows the 1918 date and the SSA marking at the back end of the action. This WW1 rifle shows clean bolt, barrel, lug and wood and has an excellent bore, finish and wood. This piece was originally built under the "Peddled Scheme" and is a very scarce variation in most Lee Enfield Collections. This example shows the scarce SSA marking, the Enfield inspector markings and the typical markings of the WW1 peddled scheme markings.
Price is OBO
This rifle is for sale near me. Thought it may be of interest to someone. Maye its nothing, I'm not an advanced collector. Seems interesting but I have other projects in the way.Information
