Marine sniper, Korea. All the small things add up. The AP ammo was found to shoot better than ball so it became the normal ammo. My guys once brought me a disintegrating clip of eight AP in Ft Lewis WA while we were doing some sort of battle run, very wet area. This would have been dropped during those times.
