According to a friend who worked in the local "arsenal" in the 50s and 60s, they overhauled and refinished tens of thousands of No4s, Stens and Brens for supply to the Greeks and possibly Turks, under NATO agreements. Everything was "like new" when it left there. No doubt similar overhaul programs were running in eastern Canadaicon at the same time, and probably doing even more arms as the main ordnance depots are in Quebec and Ontario.
