My authenticated, non-CMP, M1C s/n 3715311 has an SA 8-51 bbl which gauges .301 at muzzle and .303 in throat. Can only speculate when the original bbl was replaced, but it came to me in a lightly used condition with approx 90-95% metal finish overall.

    Korean C's

1953 barrels are actually uncommon compared to the others, we only saw about 25 in the 1200 we examined at CMPicon in 2008 (6 from Jan to Mar, 19 from Sep to Dec, none in the middle). 1954 was even scarcer (only 6) until you get to the bulge in the final months of the year that we think was part of a Greek rebuild program.

I'd be curious to know where they went between 1945 and 1952-53.

After Korea, they went all over the place and could have been rebarreled with 52-53 vintage barrels as well at a much later date.

    My Cs are showing:
SA 3-53 on a 3.7M. Very close to yours, Purple.
    SA 11-51 on a 3.6M
    SA 12-51 on a 3.3M

All of them still have nice barrel with MWG reading between 2 and 3.

Not too sure when they were called for rebuild. Manuf date or barrel condition??

    BB
