I'm w/ Steve H. here- looks like a weak or "non-springy" clip as the legs are rather spread out. It ought to be quite difficult to pull the rear h/g upwards w/ just finger pressure, most folk like to use a little extra prying action, although I don't recommend it.
Problem is, if you can bend the legs inward, that means they'll bend right back when installed. If they're properly "springy" then if you try to bend them any great amount, they'll probably break off!
If you can borrow another known "good" one for your next trip to range, it might answer the quesion of whether it's the h/g or something else...
