Rumours abound re continuing manufacture of Ishapore No1s.

Whats the latest dates known ? (proven date - not guesstimates, or my mates mother saw one a while ago)

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. I was thinking about this very subject just yesterday too.

Is it time for a list?? A survey of Ishapore No. 1 MkIII/III*/3/3* dates and serial numbers? That would give us a sub-list of the latest dates. No 2A/2A1's, thank you very much.

For instance, I have

an undated Mk III* with a '40 FR date and
a 1954 Mk 3 with Iraqi markings.

Certainly not the 'newest' but .....

Latest dates known on Ishapore 303s is 1988. On Ishapore 308s is 1972. Yes, 303s were made later than 308s.

Alan, In my notes is the same info as, jona. There was also a pic of the rifle, BTW.
