I did check out the history on this rifle before buying. The (previous to me) owner had it for around 10 years and he says did nothing but shoot it (occasionally), prior to that it was owned by a member of the club where Peter Laidlershoots, apparently Peter inspected it and declared it Kosher at the time (12 - 15 years ago)
If its 'wrong' then I'm not going to argue as my 4T knowledge is miniscule.
I accept that the pad is at a 'bit of a funny angle' but what indicates to you that the screws have been replaced ?
Could they have been replaced and the pad re-fitted during the overhaul at Catterick in '68 ?
