On the question of shooters names being on a database, this time an NHS (that's the Health Service for you foreigners.....), then I have my gravest doubts as to their security. At least the Police database is pretty well secure with the certainty that anyone who divulges its contents will be immediately sacked (?). That differs somewhat from the wishy-washy attitude to leaks from the other Government databases.
You might recall that some years ago, all the explosive store locations scattered about the nation were on a file, open for examination by anyone who wanted to learn more. That is until a few were broken into and guess what......... Yep, you've got it in one! The quarrying dynamite and initiators were stolen and used. So they took their locations off the register.
So NOW the turkeys are arguing that firearms certificate holders names and addresses are on a local free for all register............ I don't think so. But don't let common sense enter into the fray where firearms and the Police/politians are concerned
I have grave misgivings about these current events
