Right place, right time, Stratford CT gunshow, 1980..$500.00, walked in the door with WW2 vet..I got it from Bernie Lafferty,,before he died..he got it from the vet, I was there, gave him my FFL, and check, on the spot,,luck

Is the barrel 8-48 ??? hard to read even in full size photo.
Editing:
Serial # May 1942 to Sept 1944, all my ref has.
I think I already know the answer on the barrel date stamp but will wait for one of the carbine masters.

My 262xxx has a 3-43 barrel. I think 8-43 should be right for 592xxx.....Frank
