AR 15 builds, results
I have two sons old enough to shoot and wanted them to have a little fun. I figured I would build them each AR 15's. The first one I built from parts using a Stag as a platform, added a DPMS trigger system, Sarcos flat top, Sarcos aluminum free float hand guard, Pac Nor 1/9 barrel and a host of true mil.spec parts, oh yea, one of those spongy things you stick on the stock to help you keep your pretty face locked solid. The only thing special to this build was to re-cut the barrel crown to 11 degrees with a stand-off outer ring to prevent damaging the crown. I sealed in a 3 oz. mercury switch into the stock pocket to eliminate and felt recoil. I put on my target scope (Barska Tac). This gun shoots around .75" groups off the bench with 62 gr green tips.
The second build was on a Bushmaster XME2/15. The gun shot p.o.i. with the sight bottomed left. I couldn't let that go, so I replaced the top receiver with a Sarcos flat top, aluminum free float hand guard, DPMS trigger and another one of those spongy things. I cut off the muzzle break and turned the barrel the same as described above and installed a new muzzle break. Put the thing together then put on an Ultra Dot. I added a mercury switch to this one too. This one shoot average groups of 1.5" with the 62 gr. green tip ammo.
Overall these guns perform flawlessly. I enjoy shooting them as much as the kids, but, the kids will be buying there own ammo from here on out.-SDH

Sounds like a nice build
My last build was a DLASK lower, 14.5" Armalite M4 complete upper, DPMS LPK, RRA 6-pos butt and OKay industries mags
AR's have to be the lego of the gun world

This is the kind of design that could end my part time employment! As long as one reads the directions, they would be hard pressed to go wrong. I'm pondering a few fat barrel builds for the spring gunshow season. I've done very well on Milsurp trades or funds needed for the higher end stuff. I haven't used daily wages for collecting in 25 years, I figure the collection will make a nice nest egg for my kid's when it's time to check out, or worse when they go to collage.B.R.-SDH

I don't know if he sells stripped lowers, but Walter at ArmsEast is the Canadian
Stag distributor.

I'm thinking I'll get sdh1911 to adopt me and then he'll build me one too!

I recall my first AR build with a Sherluck kit and an Essential Arms lower.
It was a weird build, not everything matched up QUITE right but it was okay.
My second build was a Model 1 kit with an EA lower (and a few correct tools) assembly was a stupid BREEZE, got it together in leas than two hours.
