We had two sorts in service, The 'gollock' or 'parang' issued in Malaya with wooden or fibre grips and a '44 pattern sheath. Really useful bits of kit and dare I say it, even better that the big kukris that the Gurkhas used. The ones in the UKicon and elsewhere weren't on general issue but they were a different shape, slightly longer and came in a pigskin rippled leather sheath with wooden grips. These were part of the recovery kit on the Scammel, Bedford and Centurion recovery vehicles
