Oh, right. Well the original one I got with the rifle had issues at the hinge where it had been poorly drilled so the gap was big on one side and small on the other. The replacement IMA sent me for free is MUCH better made, so I guess the first one was just a crappy one that slipped through QA/QC at the factory in India. Both are identical in terms of external dimensions and though most guys are able to fit them well, my inletting was far too wide for the cover. You can see the new one in the below pics...
Now on to progress...
The epoxy is dry so it's time to re-inlet the patch box cover.
Started with different sized chisels and a small plane, these are the stock inletters "go-to" tools for coarse work:
Getting close... the glue line is virtually invisible even with the stock unstained and un-oiled.
And it's inlet.
Now to file the buttplate inlet to match and dowel repair the old screw hole so the new one can be drilled.
