What is unique is that we can shoot at a river (TN Valley Auth.) on the edge of this city: blast anything we throw in! But the only actual target shooting at the range that has interested me began with this first Garandicon, as I have not tried my Enfields (#4, #5) past 50 yards. With the nice Yugoicon Mauser, forget it-very little luck with those sights.

It is embarassing to be in my 50s and only learning anything about guns (frequent plinking) for the last three years, mostly alone on days off. Limited progress with 'skills', except for reading websites.

A seasoned range buddy has recently provided very good instruction, and a coworker who retired from the Navy Marks. Team set records with his iron sight AR at both 200 and 600 yards. Somehow this Garand motivates me to acquire some real iron sight skills.

    Back around '76

Or so ( my , where has the time gone?) , I was at a gunshow in Tuscon and ran across a man selling a Rugar mini-14 .223 that was kind of neat. It had a miniture set of M1icon Garand sights on it. Knobs to the left and right that changed elev. and windage , and click adjustable without tools or bullet tips. He claimed it was a limited production that had just came out. I believe the Mini was around $179 back then , and he wanted $350 or so. I passed , but swore I'd pick one up at a reasonable price. Never , ever , saw another one like it. Never saw it in a cataloge or ad copy. Been 35 years or so , still wish I had snagged it.
Now , to the OP. No , I wouldn't use it to buy a second Garand...

Now , the eighth , well that's a different story. Chris

And that indicates that you want to have access to all of the CMPicon Garands.
    If so, can't blame you.

Arado: I've had a Norinco SKS for over two years.
I suspect one thing, but could easily be mistaken-if any version of the SKS had ever been used in large numbers by US forces, wouldn't the prices now be much higher?

That's not embarassing! Embarassing is just learning there are such things as Mobile Apps and iPhones!
