When did thay stop making the No. 5 rifle. The sling swivel looks like it was made that way, and not one that was modified. Is it possible that thay used a different swivel near the end of the production run, Im guessing thay dident make them much longer after this one.

The Jungle carbine was declared obsolete in July of 1947, and production was supposed to cease on 25 September of 1947. A few could be found with dates as late as December of 47.

Unless you are a Southpaw, I don't know why you would want a sling swivel on the right side of a gun. It would be a bugger on a long march as it would want to flip backwards if slung over the right shoulder, and you would have the bolt/rear sights stuck into your butt.
