if you enlarge the picture you can see it right next to the cocking piece. enlarge the photo and it is quite clear. looks to be a 27 to me,
but for sure there is a 7 ??

Doug;
Thanks for looking but it`s picture 23 or the ones you posted as well. As i just replied if you enlarge you can clearly see it (#27) stamped right next to the cocking
piece. Please check. thanks, Phil.

Picture 23 is a "Top view of front sight" ...
Anyway, I'll try to get the piece out of the vault in the next few days and have a look.
I see what looks like a "7" or a "1", plus there is a digit wrapped around the metal in front of it that could be a "2", but I'll have to check for sure ...
Regards,
Doug

Doug;
I must have the picture numbers screwed up, but that`s correct it`s a 7 with a 2 ??? in front of it.
On my LB bolt it`s a 22 in the same position. I can`t find anywhere what it represents.
I await your reply, thanks for your help..
All The Best
Phil.

I just checked both of my 1943 Long Branches. No numbers on either of them in that location.
