Help 1903 Parts ID
I was wondering if anyone can ID the makers of these parts? I always thought all safeties and cutoffs were the same. Found out from one of the members that is not the case.

Not to be wise but I know what they are. I just don't know who made them and what period rifles they would go to. I am looking for a springfield safety and cut off. I have a project I am trying to complete.

Chucks wealth of knowledge is amazing!
The cut off is for an A3, so not a Springfield.
Need some better pics for the safetys.

The cutoff was made by an unidentified ordnance spare parts contractor circa 1942.
The left-most safety lock appears to be from a Smith-Corona M'03-A3.
The next two safety locks appear to be from late Remington M'03-A3's.
The right-most safety lock is from a Springfield M1903.
Hope this helps.

All,
Thanks for the replies to pcaru and his question.
I too have an email out to someone regarding clarification on what era the cut offs and safety's fall into.
This is actually a helpful thread to us "Newb's" regarding the 1903's and correct parts for them.

John's got a good eye. If you look close at the pic, you can see that the first three have the "straight-cut" tip. The fourth, appears to have more of an elliptical cut. See the pic -

Along with the straight cut, comes the plunger hole being drilled through by a bit the size of the plunger stem.

I assume these were more ways to simplifying the manufacture of parts for A3's.
JB or anyone else - Is there any kind of time-frame as far as these changes are concerned?

I have a data base showing when the changes you describe were made.

OK John, would I be correct to assume these changes were made at about the same time, towards the end of Rem '03 production?

Closer to mid-production.
