Help with Info on Ithaca Trenchgun
Hi,
Been looking through the postings and pictures, need help on info for a Ithaca Trenchgun. The weapon has a serial number of 902xxx. The weapon is uniformally parkerized, showing the wear of a 45 year old weapon that was taken care of.
Has anyone seen the rifle sights shown in the picture? The rear base is parkerized with the barrel and looks factory. The barrel does not have a bead hole under the heatshield. Hope the picture helps with some info gathering.

Thanks, James

I have one . S/n 98704X . The barrel is marked D.S. Police Special. No choke markings are present. This one is also marked by some police dept. The heat shield is 14.5 inches long not the standard 15 inches on other Ithacas. Buttstock has checkering also.
Just a guess but I'd suspect a limited run .

John, Thanks for the reply.
Does your weapon have the rifled sights also? My stock is plain wood, nicely grained and sports a "06" engraved on the wood base of the grip of the stock.
The heatshield does look like it is welded slighly more forward on the bayonet adaptor, which might account for the 1/2". That would probably be for clearence of the rifle sight base. The front sight can be removed by a screw of the and leaves just a tapped hole for a front bead.
Articles say that the DSPS were built for Military, Military Police and LE Police during this serial number range. Do you have any suggestions on good literature on M37 Ithaca and variations.

Yes mine does have the rifled sights also.
As for a Book ... Mr. Canfield's book on COMBAT SHOTGUNS can't be beat. It will save you some money with all the fakes out there !!
