port cover
Can anyone identify this port cover ? The small snap ring holds the spring loaded plunger in place, why would it also have a cross pin like the early Colt ?Attachment 19261Attachment 19260

Early port covers
Thanks for the explanation concerning the port cover repair with the pin. It seems like alot of work to drill to install a pin. I have seen port covers that had that tiny snap ring wear out and fall off dumping the internal plunger and spring. The interesting thing about my port cover with the pin installed is that it still has the tiny snap ring ?
Photo of a Colt SP1 in the three digit serial number range, Colt used a tiny roll pin on their early port covers not the solid type of pin.Attachment 19401Attachment 19400 Also Colt did not use the tiny snap ring either.
Now I understand what you were talking about on the taps, I have some port covers too with broken off taps. Thanks for the photos
