Good article but all information attributing this activity to any one person is circumstantial and should be editted out.

Regardless good information to know that enfields are going up in price sufficiently that devious people out there are collecting or building parts guns, force matching the numbers and selling them under false pretenses (at a higher price of course).

Apart from fraud coming to mind these rifles have a significantly greater chance of being dangerous. Mixed parts slapped together by someone whom is not a qualified gunsmith has a much greater chance of issues due to improper head spacing or even utilizing unsafe spare parts.

This is what makes an informative site dedicated to ex-service rifles so important.

In the US, there is a provable "chain of custody" for every firearm not classified as an antique, or involved in a private sale.
This chain is provable through Bound Book entries which all US 01 licensed dealers and 03 C&R licensed collectors are required to keep.
So the email I have from the seller claiming a "Springfield Sporters---AFAC---krinko" chain of custody for a rifle with a removed import mark is easily proved true, should anyone like to buy a boat for a lawyer.
There are other more pressing reasons why claims of "legal action" are eyewash as well, but they aren't really germaine to the issue.
