    Well, there's no getting rid of the holes, really. It might be best just to keep an eye out for a better deal on a mount. Parker Hale made some good stuff, and there's no sense adding more holes for another type mount. Realistically, this rifle's a shooter, and that's not a bad thing! That ugly old mismatched rifle of mine pictured above shoots well and is more enjoyable than many other more "collectible" rifles. Enjoy it for what it is, or if it fails to meet expectations, use it to trade for something "better". HOWEVER, if you grow to enjoy Enfields as much as I, then you will probably miss your "first Enfield" ,warts and all, IF you do part with it!

    ETA, Your photos are appreciated as well- often little things in these pictures can answer other questions many moons in the future- sometimes regarding things unexpected.
