    Update:

Got an E-mail last week from our product line manager saying he doesn't mind "surfing the internet" during breaktime just as long as the work station is left clean of litter.

THIS week the official answer to updating almost 1500 computers came out- Most will denied internet access! (Intra-net only). We have many older but vital programs that just aren't compatible w/ new IE platforms. Since outside access isn't vital for most of our work, it's easier to cut outside connection capabilities. Makes sense.

Don't know if there will be any easily accessible computers when the change takes place, so my presence here may be much less! Soooo...???

    That's unfortunate partner ...

To be honest, my experience in IT and systems development goes back almost 30 years and I've never seen such a backwards reaction to handling technology upgrades, particularly founded on the premise that they're trying to protect antiquated programs. We have a major investment running an old DOS (1980's) based database and they're using IE8 and web access to it no problem. If I were the CEO of your corporation, I'd be asking some hard questions about who's making these decisions and why.

Anyway, your presence will be missed my friend.

Maybe buy an iPad2 and access the site from it anytime and anywhere you want?

Can I access the milsurps.com site from dial-up, cell phone, iPhone or Blackberry?

Most of my daily access is using my small iPhone or larger iPad and it works great ...

    Regards,
    Doug
